Traveling is something that most people like. But jet lag while traveling to a place with a different time zone can be a pain. Jet lag is a series of symptoms that our body experiences when our internal clock is disturbed and haywire. The symptoms of jet lag may include daytime sleepiness, insomnia, fatigue, indigestion and difficulty in concentrating. This doesn’t mean you stop traveling, it just means you should be mindful of the following tips to combat jet lag:
Alter your sleep schedule
You could try altering your regular time schedule a few days before your trip. For example, try waking up early in the morning and doing a few of your errands such as answering your emails or doing your laundry and then going back to sleep. Doing this allows your body to adjust to changes in your sleep schedule and ensures you get the most off your travel time.
Follow the local time schedule
Once you arrive at your destination, try to follow the time schedule of the place you are in. If you fall asleep at 5 in the evening and wake up midnight, you’ve accomplished nothing and will likely waste your time adjusting. Alternatively, make the most of your trip and try going on evening walks or do anything that involves fresh air to combat your jet lag.
Change the time on your devices
Though this might seem obvious there are some people who opt not to change the time on their devices. This is something that you should do while you are on your flight. Changing the time on your watch makes you psychologically aligned with the time zone of your destination.
Enjoy a jet lag free trip by making these simple changes!
